What is microneedling?
Microneedling, also called percutaneous collagen induction therapy, is a minimally-invasive treatment for skin revitalization. Microneedling treats many skin issues, including:

How does microneedling work?
Your Skin Scripts care provider applies a topical anesthetic to numb your skin in preparation for microneedling. Next, they use a small group of sterilized needles to make microscopic injuries to your skin. Depth ranges from 0.5-3 mm, depending on what your skin concerns are and how much skin remodeling you need.
The needles each create a tiny puncture, directly into your dermis, the area of your skin where you produce collagen and elastin. This action agitates your skin and generates your body’s healing process, which consists of collagen and elastin remodeling.
Collagen and elastin are often called the building blocks of beautiful skin because they play such vital roles. Collagen is the skin’s support system, so it keeps your skin firm. Elastin gives your skin elasticity, so it helps your skin bounce back after you smile, crinkle your eyes, or make other expressions.
What does my skin look like after microneedling?
After microneedling, it’s normal to have some redness and swelling, along with pinpoint blood spots in some areas. This usually fades within a day or so. You can use lightly applied makeup after microneedling if desired.
You might notice improved skin smoothness and texture in the first week or so, and you could have firmer skin in as little as a few weeks. The new collagen and elastin growth can continue for as long as several months, which means results can gradually get even better.
How many microneedling treatments do I need?
